Adventures in Wikipedia

That’s right: hit the Random Article Button enough, and you come up with some pretty bizarre and fascinating articles. I present for your consideration the following:

John Gates, the Communist.

Apparently, there’s this religion called “Hinduism”.

James Alexander Gordon had something to do with ships and such.

Once upon a time, there was a war with these Dutch guys in a faraway place.

Speaking of Dutch, how about that there Friesland?

The third-largest aviation company in the world is Canadian. That’s just wierd.

I was doing some Wikipedian Travels, when I came across this article. Read it. I’ve met people that clearly meet all the criterion for this affliction: in fact I work with one.

Wikipedian Travels, Part 1.

I’m hoping to make this a semi-regular feature on my blog, mostly about my travels through the wonderful and terribly informative world of Wikipedia.org. Considering how I literally use it every day, I think you all might get a kick out of reading what I’ve been reading and find interesting.

First off, The Stanford Prison Experiment. If you ever need something to frighten you, this would be the article. Just the idea that we all have something within us that would cause us to act like the prisoners or guards… well, that’s just freaky. And scriptural. But still freaky.

I’ve always been a little fascinated with military history, and that includes the Royal Navy. You could seriously spend an entire day reading what this page links to.

And of course coffee, that beautiful drink. A substance without which my life would approach meaninglessness. I lie. But I enjoy a cup or two now and again. You may interpret that any way you like.
