Again, let me harp on something none of you may care about. I’ve made some changes - things I’ve wanted to tweak for a while now, really - and if you’re aggregating this blog in any way, you should know about them.

First, tags are no longer going to function like they used to. Instead of /daniel?tag=poetry the link will be /daniel/tag/poetry/ just makes more sense. You can, if you wish, aggregate a particular tag’s feed if you like. For instance, if you’d like to read none of his blog except for all thing poetry, you can grab that tag’s RSS feed, or you could do the same with any of the others.

Also, if you subscribe to the main feed, you’ll have noticed how it includes the tag links twice. I’ve found the troublesome option that causes said duplicity and disabled it. You shouldn’t have that cosmetic peccadillo bothering you any longer. It always bothered me.

I have installed (thanks to my wordpress.com API key) Akismet. So not I have Spam Karma and Akismet running, which should also take care of trackback spam, most of which slips right through SK’s filters, though I suspect Dr Dave simply hasn’t written SK to take care of trackback spam. Edit: I suspected wrong, as Dr Dave maintains he did indeed write SK to take care TB spam.

Sheesh. I still fail to see who actually buys anything presented in a spam email anyways.

As some of you may or may not have noticed, things are once again a-changing at ye olde blog. I’ve started upgrading those plugins I need to upgrade due to the recent version change of this Wordpress install. This means that certain things have moved on for the moment, such as the beautiful theme once presiding over this kangaroo court, the shoutbox on the side that everyone has started ignoring, and several other useful and inspiring features.

In fact, this place is starting to look like a regular old-fashioned blog. But not for long! In some deep secret part of the interwood I am testing out my very own forum, a forum such that me and mine can converse amongst ourselves. I have Nick to thank for the webspace and whatnot. If you want to have a look and try this out for yourself, be warned that everything is in development.

In the middle of having the most annoying day ever, I’m taking a break to install a couple new plugins, but only one you’ll really care about - and that’s the Democracy poll on the sidebar, way down at the bottom under the tag spread. Feel free to try and game the system if you want to. I can’t stop you. But it’s pretty robust all the same.

Also, I’ve plugged a Private Messaging system in; if you register as a user, you can send private messages to other users, or me, should you feel so led. So now you have at least four different ways of interacting with me and eachother via this blog. Can you feel the excitement?

By now you’ve probably noticed that the Email Notification Box is up again: if you want to be notified of posts via your email, just input and click and everything will be done for you.

But the real fun is the Shoutbox where you can dialogue in real time with others who browse here… leave a message if you will, or don’t if you will not.

Also, check out that “Archives” tab above for a tag cloud (as you can see, I’m using tags now instead of categories - so much better - a feature that I hear will be implimented in the next Wordpress release anyways). All the better, says I. There’s also a handy-dandy listing of posts in the Archives, too, just to help you burrow around a bit more.

Some of you may have noticed that there have been a few changes around here. Okay, things look way different. That’s because I’ve recently augmented my Wordpress install with a plugin called “K2″ - a beta I found thanks to Poetisphere. You’ll notice a nice AJAX search mechanism and comments field. Really, it’s quite fun.

I’ve also added tagging thanks to the Ultimate Tag Warrior plugin, which should help with finding content and categorizing it. I may eventually give up on categories altogether. Who knows…

And at the same time I’ve added links on the side - Poetisphere and my Frappr Map. Which you should add yourself to, really.
