- Grizzly Bear’s “Two Weeks” is such an amazing song that I am deputizing all of you to go listen to it RIGHT NOW. #fb #
- Church was good today, but someone needs to redesign the slides they put up on the screens. Puke-inducing yellow is always the wrong choice. #
- Also, Dear Blue Team, if you’re going to play new songs–and you should!–at least play them on a week there’s a Monday practice. #
- One thing church leaders need to do re building plans and commit to being good steward of it. I know it’s implied, but we need to hear it. #
- So… if Grandaddy and Jason Lytle sound exactly the same, what was the point of the rest of the band, again? #

Means & Ends
daniel on May 23rd 2009
There is a heaven we haven’t explored
lying in wait for the taking.
Hidden in phrases, hidden in plain speech,
hidden in rules made for breaking.
There are lines to cross and lines to keep reciting.
Some days the sticks are woven in the spokes.
There are things to keep and things to keep from fighting.
Days to pause and days to go for broke.
Does it sting a little, peeking over to tomorrow?
Are you measuring the means to the end?

Bob Dylan
daniel on May 22nd 2009
They once told me I sounded like Bob Dylan;
apparently sounding like Bob Dylan isn’t a good thing,
a point we could all agree on, though we
approached the subject orthogonally.
I think I must have told them that I only write poetry
and lose weight when I’m unhappy,
or someone has jostled me to the core;
I don’t quite remember what I told them,
except that you can’t always get an accurate picture
of someone by their creations,
though sometimes you can say,
Mr Poe was a depressed and melancholy soul,
or, it appears someone has been reading
Bukowski again.
He knew a lot about racetracks, Mr Bukowski,
or perhaps he made it all up,
much like Bob Dylan made himself up,
stepped into a booth, and made music
I could one day be compared to.

A Life of Grime
daniel on May 22nd 2009
Entering a life of grime:
finishing and re-finishing the
surface and re-surfacing sometime
later:
A life of calling and recalling
a different conversation:
A life of treating and retreating
to healthier ground:
A life of warding and rewarding
a horror well avoided:
A life of tropes and repetition and
failing to ask dirty little questions.

- Good morrow, blessed internet–packets be upon it–friends! May the light of its fibre shine down benevolently on your down-turned faces. #
- Every song I write these days sounds like Mutemath. Which is either totally awful or totally awesome. #
- I just poured myself another cup of coffee. #boring (am i doin this rite?!?) #
- Updating my Twitter recursively. #boring #
- I swear my coffee cup has legs. It’s never where I put it. Or I didn’t put it where I thought. Off I go to look! #coffee #
