Apple Blossoms

In the meantime let’s sip tea
and talk about the blue jays
just outside the window.

Time for reflection now. Here:
you are translucent and I can
see apple blossoms in your eyes.

You are coming into bloom, you say.
Took long enough, I reply,
to spring into action.

Inbetweentime let’s sip tea
and talk about the orioles
teetering on the powerlines.

I am not a good man, I confess.
But you are becoming translucent,
you say (and I hope you’re right).

I can see apple blossoms in your eyes,
you tell me.
